Qualifying underway in Daun
After the three rounds of practice, it got even more intense during the first round of qualifying. In our report we will inform you quickly about the results of each of the 2WD classes here at EOS RD3.
2WD Modified Buggy
Champlin takes opening 2WD qualifier in Daun
The first 2WD qualifier was a very close affair until most of the drivers started to make some small mistakes during the run. Schumachers Broc Champlin (USA) took full advantage out of that as he was the only driver laying down a clean run with his LRP powered buggy. He only posted the seventh fastest lap of the race (17.645), but his concistency was the way to victory. After five minutes, his advantage over second placed teammate Lee Martin was about 3.6 seconds. A great start for Champlin into his first ever EOS event. Behind Champlin and Martin, Micha Widmaier, Bartosz Zalewski, and Martin Bayer completed the top 5.
I am happy with my first qualifying run. The track is a lot of fun, and I just tried to make no mistakes which worked well until the end. Compared to the tracks we have in the US, this one here has way more traction and you need to stay in a good flow all the time. My car felt good and I will try to repeat my run in the second round where I hope to also benefit from starting first. Everybody is on a very similar pace and I expect a close next race!

2WD Stock Buggy
Stock Buggy Q1 goes to Benetin
Matus Benetin was able to stay on top of the group in the 2WD Stock class. He took the win in the top heat with a comfortable looking gap of 3.8 seconds in front of Jesus Laurent, and Mick Burbach. They had been in the mix for winning the round until they suffered some trouble in the last minute of the race allowing Benetin to pull away. Sören Sparbier took fourth place for the round with his time coming from the third fastest group. Simon Stegmeier rounded out the top 5 in the 2WD Stock Buggy class during the first out of three qualifiers.

Stock Truck
Wukonig takes opening round of Stock Truck qualifying in Daun
Christian Wukonig has taken the first round of qualifying at the ETS season final race in Daun. He had a good, and almost consistent run in front of his competitors, but lost some time in lap 8 due to traffic. However, his pace was good enough to stay on top by 0.1 seconds to take the win in front of Jens Becker and Kai König. Top Seed Philipp Märzinger had to take 6th for the round after he made some small mistakes here and there. Two more rounds will come up soon and the TQ, as well as the other A-Main spots are wide open.
