4WD A-Main Report, EOS Hann. Münden 2023

The Euro Offroad Series race in Hann. Münden is DONE. We had an amazing weekend, and we like to thank everybody for coming to the Transworld Hotel Auefeld to race with us. The next EOS race will take place in (famous) Daun and we are already having more than 420 entries for this one. But now, time to honour our race winners from the weekend!

4WD Modified Buggy

A1– We saw a perfect start from all drivers on the sound of the tone and it was David Ronnefalk leading from Bruno Coehlo and Michal Orlowski. What looked like a touring car race for the first eight laps turned out in a spectacular race afterwards. David Ronnefalk had a bad landing which allowed Coehlo and Orlowski to slip by. Ronnefalk was staying behind Orlowski for the next laps and was able to overjump him in the double-double section where Orlowski made a mistake and had to take it single-single.

Ronnefalk was back to P2 and Coehlo already had a comfortable gap out front – before he also threw his car onto the roof in lap 14. Ronnefalk was now leading again but the Swedish ace didn`t nail the last double jump in the infield perfectly and hit the chair in the corner (which was there to prevent drivers doing corner shortcuts with jumping super long).

This handed the lead back to Coehlo again on a golden plate and Bruno took the win in A1 under the applause of all the spectators around the track. It was a very eventful final and great to watch for sure. David Ronnefalk finished second, Michal Orlowski third, Davide Ongaro took fourth place, and Joona Haatanen made it to fifth position from P8 on the grid!

A2– Top qualifier David Ronnefalk brought the field around the first laps and everybody was running how they started. Ronnefalk, Coehlo, and Orlowski were matching lap times lap after lap before Ronnefalk caught the pipe before accelerating onto the double-double jump. Coehlo and Orlowski went by and Ronnefalk found himself in third position after this incident.

Orlowski was charging hard behind Bruno, but the Portuguese ace was putting his head down and drove a clean race until the end. Orlowski had a small bubble with 5 laps to go and Ronnefalk took second spot back. Bruno Coehlo crossed the line and secured himself and Xray a big win here at the EOS in Hann. Münden.

A3– Bruno Coehlo watched A3 from the side-line and the battle for second and third was between Orlowski and Ronnefalk. Michal Orlowski needed to win A3 to take second place away from David Ronnefalk, but in the end, everything turned out differently for Orlowski. Ronnefalk was leading the race from wire to wire, but behind him it was Orlowski who crashed multiple times during the race – something we do not see often from the Polish Offroad superstar.

After Orlowski had given the chance for second overall away, Davide Ongaro was running in second place and pushed Orlowski off the podium in the last heat of the weekend. A great result for Ongaro at his first big carpet race, and kind of a big disappointment for Orlowski who wanted more than a fourth place for sure!

4WD Stock Buggy

Waitz got it together in A3 and wins 4WD Stock Buggy at the Transworld Hotel

A1– Aaron Waitz had a perfect start off the line and drove an almost perfect first final until he lost his lead to Kim Nielsen in lap 8. Sven Rudig was running in third place before he had some trouble and lost his position to Piotr Stankiewicz and Benedikt Heitzer. Kim Nielsen took the win in the first final of the 4WD Stock Buggy class.

A2- It was another race to forget for young Aaron Waitz. He made a mistake before the main straight in lap 1 and lost many positions. Kim Nielsen jumped into the race leader’s position. Nielsen, who already won the first leg, had the chance to seal the deal here in Hann. Münden but he lost his focus and made a small mistake too. Sven Rudig and Piotr Stankiewicz took advantage and finished first and second in A2. Mike Hansen, Aaron Waitz, and Max Krüger completed the top 5.

A3– After his terrible A2, top qualifier Aaron Waitz had another chance to seal the overall win in Hann. Münden – and he delivered. Aaron had a fantastic run from start to finish and won his first ever EOS race in the 4WD Stock Buggy class – congratulations, well done! Piotr Stankiewicz finished second in the last final, and Kim Nielsen third. The overall result saw Aaron Waitz winning, Kim Nielsen in second, and Pawel Stankiewicz in third place!

Modified Truck

Neuman is the KING of Modified Stadium Truck racing

A1– It was a lonely race for Jörn Neumann at the top of the field. Second place starter Micha Widmaier lost his truck in the double-double section during lap 2 and lost many places. Jörn Neumann took it easy and cruised around with his stadium truck, painted in his trademark colours. A small mistake from Neumann brought Burak Kilic closer again, but Kilic was running out of time and Neumann took A1 after five minutes. Widmaier was able to recover a bit and took third place ahead of Rik Haemers and Mike Hansen.

A2– Jörn Neumann had his teammate Micha Widmaier shadowing him for 4:30 minutes before Widmaier got stuck at the step-up of the corner table. Neumann made no mistakes in the race and took a well-deserved overall victory in the Modified Truck class. Micha Widmaier, Burak Kilic, Mike Hansen, and Rik Haemers completed the top 5 in the second A-Main final.

A3- With the race win already decided, the last final was between Micha Widmaier and Burak Kilic for second overall. Micha was able to hold off Burak for the entire 5 minutes and secured second place on the podium. Burak Kilic finished third overall and Mike Hansen and Rik Haemers rounded out the top 5 in Modified Truck at the EOS in Hann. Münden, GER.
