The Euro Offroad Series has burst out of its pandemic enduced shackles and we look forward to 3 days of tough competition at Round 4 of the now 2020/2021/2022 season at the Grafenwald Sport Hotel, Daun, Germany. The event will run under local 2G+ precautionary procedures where each participant will have their infection status tested each day.  Approximately 140 drivers have signed up to compete – with nearly all competing in two or more classes. The classes on Saturday are 2wd, 2wd Stock and Stock Truck. Sunday its 4wd, 4wd Stock and Modified Truck.

Several top drivers have entered the event including factory drivers from Yokomo, Xray, Schumacher, Sworks and Associated, so it will be a tough battle at the sharp end over the 3 days.  The battle field is a familiar one, but with some key differences…..

The track layout is the familiar design which we have become familiar with at this venue on previous occasions. However, there are several corners and jumps with a new firm foam rubber surface which will make things a little difference. My first impression was that the foam surface was high grip as my shoe sole grabbed and snagged across it. On the contrary, those in the know suggest that it is actually a low grip surface and it will slow the cars in those areas – time will tell.

As I write this, most of the drivers have already check in with the organisers and the restaurant and bar are busy. Teams from the UK, Switzerland and others occupy the cosy nooks in the bar and spirits are high with a great atmosphere evident.  The arena opens on Friday morning at 0645hrs with the first Stock Truck practice round kicking off at 0830hrs.

We will pick this up Friday ….
