2WD Q1 & Q2 Report, EOS Hann. Münden 2023

Saturday is our traditionally 2WD day at the EOS. Four rounds of qualifying (4 minute runs) are on the schedule, followed by some lower mains and a round of Stock Truck and Stock Buggy A-Mains. A very long and demanding day for all drivers, but important in any way to score a good 2WD result here at the EOS in Daun.

2WD Modified Buggy

Q1– Top seed Michal Orlowski (Schumacher) had a clean run-on track in Q1 of 2WD Modified Buggy qualifying. Orlowski took the win with a gap of 1.4 seconds ahead of young Bartosz Zalewski (Xray) who posted the fastest lap of the heat (18.482). Team Associated`s Tommy Hall was third fastest, followed by Micha Widmaier (Sworkz) and Elias Johansson (Schumacher).

Q2– The second round of 2WD Modified Buggy qualifying was in the hands of Michal Orlowski again. The Schumacher factory driver saw Xray`s David Ronnefalk laying down a great run in the group before, and knew that he had to push really hard to beat Ronnefalk` s time.

Orlowski was super consistent, and only him and Ronnefalk managed to run 18 second lap times in every lap of the run. Orlowski was one second faster after four minutes, but Ronnefalk showed that he clearly improved the pace of his car after having a “slow” Q1. Behind Orlowski and Ronnefalk, we saw Bartosz Zalewski (Xray), Marcus Kaerup (Team Associated), and Daniel Kobbevik (Schumacher) taking P3 to P5.

2WD Stock Buggy

Two out of two for Pauwels

Q1– Top seed Senne Pauwels took the first round of 2WD Stock Buggy qualifying. He had a good run with his green machine and won by 1.6 seconds ahead of Mich Burback. Piotr Stankiewicz was another 2.2 seconds behind and took third place, followed by Mike Hansen and Daniel Ortiz.

Q2– The second round of Stock Buggy qualifying saw Senne Pauwels taking another win. He had a huge mistake in the penultimate lap (11) and lost 4 seconds, but the gap he had built up during the race was big enough to remain in top. A big break for Pauwels who is only one heat away from securing the overall TQ spot here in Daun. Mick Burbach, Andy Woods, Mike Hansen, and Piotr Stankiewicz rounded out the top 5.

Stock Truck

Briers takes Q1, Vranckx victorious in Q2

Q1– Marco Briers took the opening round of Stock Truck qualifying on a very early Saturday morning. It was a top heat full of crashes as almost nobody had a clean run. Briers took the win ahead of Mike Hansen, Christian Wukonig, and Jan Zalewski. Esmee Briers posted the fifth fastest time coming out of the B-group.

Q2- The second round saw top seed Nick Vranckx striking back after he had bad luck in Q1 where he looked fastest as well. Vranckx crossed the finish line after four minutes and had a massive gap of 4.5 seconds ahead of Q1 winner Marco Briers, and Christian Wukonig. Decision for overall TQ was wide open after Q2 as we saw two different race winners so far!
