2WD Q3 + Q4 Report, EOS Daun 2024

The Saturday qualifying action is done and everybody knows about his starting position for the finals now. Everybody is already looking forward to the “big show” on Saturday when the best in the business will go for a ride on the technical and flowing track at the Sporthotel Grafenwald. Don`t miss the action and follow our livestream tomorrow. But before, we will let you know what happened in Q3 and Q4 on Friday evening!

2WD Modified Buggy

Q3- Daun is a good place for Michal Orlowski! After a clean sweep in qualifying during last weekend`s ETS race, the Schumacher lead driver made it three out of three in 2WD buggy so far. Enough to seal the overall TQ before the end of qualifying. In Q3, Orlowski was on used tires and was not running at the top for most of the run. The lead changed multiple times between Elias Johansson and Daniel Kobbevik before both Schumacher drivers had problems on track in the last two laps of the race. Orlowski took over the lead and won Q3 ahead of Joona Haatanen (Team Associated) and Alexander Landen (Team Associated). Burak Kilic had an amazing run with the new Mugen Seiki MSB1 in the b-heat and posted the fourth fastest time in front of multiple IFMAR world champion Davide Ongaro (Team Associated). Before the last round of qualifying, five (!) drivers had been tied on points (298) in the fight of the remaining A-Main spots and the decision came down to Q4.

Q4- There is not a lot to report about the heat winner as Schumacher`s Michal Orlowski posted another TQ run. This amazing guy is in the form of his life – it is as simple as it sounds. But he will need to deliver again on Saturday when we will have three A-Mains on the line. Bartek Zalewski (Xray) from Poland will start second behind Orlowski after some awesome qualifying sessions. The youngster was on a mission all day long and earned a well deserved second place on the grid. Positions 3 to 7 of Q4 went to the Team Associated drivers Landen, Haatanen, Kaerup, Hall, and Ongaro.

As we had predicted, qualifying was a super close affair and some “top dogs” like Ronnefalk and Ongaro (both IFMAR world champions) missed the A-Main by a couple of points. The new Team Associated B7 Buggy showed a great pace with 4 cars in the main and the new Mugen Seiki MSB1 made the show as well in the hands of Burak Kilic. Let`s head into the finals where we expect nothing else as a great showDAUN!

2WD Stock Buggy

Pauwels is top qualifier at the EOS in Daun

Q3- Senne Pauwels took another win (by 4 seconds) in Q3 and will start from pole position into the triple A-Mains of the 2WD Stock Buggy class. Pauwels is clearly the fastest driver with his Schumacher car, and only Mick Burbach (Xray) and Piotr Stankiewicz could follow him in a distance.

A nice surprise in Q3 was the pace of young Nino Altmanninger (Team Associated). The young gun posted the second fastest runtime out of the b-heat which means that he has almost secured himself a spot on the A-Main grid. Mick Burbach (Xray) and Sven Rudig (Associated) took positions four and five behind Pauwels, Altmanninger, and Stankiewicz.

Q4- After already being TQ after Q3, Senne Pauwels did not slow down and made it a “clean sweep” in qualifying. He took another win in a heat full of small mistakes and bubbles by almost everybody.  However, it will be difficult to beat Senne in the finals but everybody will push hard for sure.

TQ Senne Pauwels (BE) Schumacher
2. Mick Burback (DE) Xray
3. Piotr Stankiewicz (PL)
4. Mike Hansen (DK) Schumacher
5. Andy Woods (GB)
6. Daniel Hofmann (CZ) Xray
7. Daniel Ortiz (ES) Schumacher
8. Nino Altmanninger (AT) Associated
9. Sven Rudig (DE) Associated
10. Aaron Waitz (DE) Xray
Good luck for the finals everybody
and special congratulations to 9-year old Nino Altmanninger for making it into the A-Main in a field of 79(!) 2WD Stock Buggy racers – that was awesome!

Wukonig picked up the pace and is overall TQ

Q3- Christian Wukonig was the happy guy after Q3 where he took the win by a tenth of a second from Mike Hansen and Jan Zalewski. The TQ of the first two qualifiers, Nick Vranckx, was only able to secure P5 behind Esmee Briers. Esmee had a perfect run in the b-group and had already secured herself a spot in the A-Main after Q3. The decision for the overall pole position went down to the line in Q4.

Q4- With the TQ now possible for Christian Wukonig (Schumacher), he was right on point in the last round of qualifying. Another TQ run will see him starting on top of the 10-Trucks A-Main grid later on. The top 10 after qualifying are:

TQ Christian Wukonig (AT)
2. Marco Briers (BE)
3. Mike Hansen (DK)
4. Nick Vranckx (BE)
5. Jan Zalewski (PL)
6. Esmee Briers (BE)
7. Peter Stein (NO)
8. Cedric Didier (FR)
9. Dominik Wimberger (AT)
10. Pawel Trella (PL)
Good luck for the finals everybody!
