4WD Modified Buggy

Lap one incident between Ronnefalk and Orlowski – Zalewski wins exciting second final

The second 4WD Buggy final started with a BANG…. Ronnefalk went big at the double in front of the driver stand and was landing on the inside of Orlowski`s buggy. Ronnefalk` s front left tire (maybe) touched Orlowski’s rear right, and both could not turn to the right to hit the apex of the corner correctly. The cars got stuck together for a moment and Ronnefalk had the worst luck when his buggy landed on the roof and needed a marshal to continue. Orlowski found himself in second after this hectic start of the race!

Was this move too optimistic and aggressive from Ronnefalk? Or was he just trying what a racing driver needs to try? Well, there are many opinions about situations like this and we can not judge it correctly as well. It was a racing incident which can happen quickly during open-wheel racing on top of a world class field!

After this first lap “drama”, Bartosz Zalewski (started third) found himself in the lead. The young Xray driver was pulling away from a still in second place running Michal Orlowski. Zalewski`s Cayote powered Xray was right on the money, and he drove super clean. In the last 90 seconds of the race the youngster got a little nervous when he was not hitting his lines perfectly anymore.

Michal Orlowski was hammering down some crazy fast laps and closed the gap to Zalewski again. But Orlowski ran out of time and Bartosz Zalewski took the win in A2 ahead of Orlowski (Schumacher), Kaerup (Associated), Ronnefalk (Xray), and Ben Mohamed (Schumacher).

Young Bartosz Zalewski earned nothing than a huuuge applause from the crowd for his great drive in A2. The decision for the overall win and all podium positions was wide open after this result and everything went down to the line in A3.

Wow, that was a hell of a race. After the start, the first lap was really crazy. I could somehow take profit from Michal and David`s incident and was lucky to not get collected as well. After that I could open a small gap to Michal which I was very happy about. But as the race entered the last 90 seconds I could feel some pressure and became a bit nervous. Michal came closer again but I managed to keep it (the car) on four wheels. I like to take the moment to say thank you to my new electronic sponsor Cayote. Everything (ESC and Batteries) is working great so far and I am super happy. Let` s see what the last final will bring for me – I just will try enjoy it!

4WD Stock Buggy

Waitz takes A2 – who will win the last one here in Daun?

After the start, Daniel Hofman and Ales Bidovsky collided in lap one when their cars touched each other in the air after the Cayote double jump. Both lost positions and it was Mick Burbach who found himself leading the race. But Burbach was on the sunny side of life only for two laps before he made a costly mistake allowing Aaron Waitz to take over P1 ahead of Bidovsky. Waitz had Bidovsky in his rear-view mirror then for two minutes and they showed great and respectful driving on track.

When Aaron had a bad landing in lap 11, Bidovsky tried to go by but, was side by side with Waitz, but was clipping the “red shark” wood plate in the step-down section of the track. Waitz could maintain the lead until the finish line and won A2 in front of Bidovsky, Nielsen, Hofman, and Haemers. Everything was wide open before the last and deciding third A-Main of our 4WD Stock Buggy class.

Modified Truck

Widmaier wins spectacular A2, battle for overall win on the line in A3

Micha Widmaier took the win in the second Modified Truck A-Main. Top qualifier Jörn Neumann was in the lead until he lost his truck once in the infield. Widmaier went by and took over the lead. Widmaier had some good laps until he clipped the board allowing Neumann to close in again. In the last 90 seconds of the race things got even more intense when Neumann was putting on a great move on Widmaier in the step-up section, just to lose the position again when Widmaier answered with the perfect counter in the next corner under the applause of the crowd.  Max Götzl finished third in the secod final after a nice move on Burak Kilic who had to take P4.
